A high proportion of sales are generated from store perimeters and hence the lighting design process often starts here. Perimeters are typically lit to twice the level of the stores ambient lighting.

Compact fluorescent versions produce a uniform lighting and give low maintenance costs due to the combination of long lamp life and low lamp cost.

CDM versions give a less uniform but more dramatic lighting effect. CDM is equally energy efficient as compact fluorescent with a long lamp life. However, the lamps are more expensive.

Retail designers are increasingly aware of the importance of vertical illumination. Standard commercial luminaires may light the floor to 1,000 lux but can leave the product on the shelves at only 150 lux. The Compact Ace range ensures that light is thrown where it is of the most use - on the display.

More detailed calculations can then be carried out with our Windows based lighting design software “INL-WIN” if required.
