The F3-Downlighter range represents a breakthrough in VDT area lighting. It has not previously been possible to light an office efficiently with Compact Fluorescent downlighters unless they are fairly large fittings (at least 150mm high). Fittings need to be no more than 100mm high to avoid snagging with low ceiling voids and other services such as air conditioning ducts, sprinkler systems etc.

The F3 takes advantage of Amalgam lamp technology to provide a diminutive yet extremely efficient fitting which complies with LG3 Category-3 without needing a low glare louvre. Louvres in downlighters reduce efficiency which leads to close spacing to achieve the required lighting levels.

Clip-in Category-2 louvres are available for areas where VDT use is critical or intensive.

Single lamp F3 downlighters should be used with Amalgam based lamps such as the Philips PL-T range or the Osram Dulux-T/E IN. Other lamps are compatible but will give lower luminaire efficiencies (see page 6 for details).

The F3 reflector was designed and tooled by Compact. The reflective surface is vacuum metallised which eliminates the iridescence produced by anodising.
